"Thank you for such a high quality and well designed install."

Asset Plumbing & Heating recently fitted a heat pump as a replacement for our broken gas boiler.

Firstly their initial communication was prompt, clear and concise. And from that point onwards everything that we agreed or promised was delivered exactly as expected.

The quality of all the workmanship was very high, they were extremely knowledgable so are able to advise how best to run the system, and every detail was completed with the utmost professionalism.

Thank you for such a high quality and well designed install.

"Lovely genuine guys who knew exactly what needed to be done."

Place was left nice and tidy and no mess was left behind.
What stood out most was their willingness to go the extra mile. They took the time to troubleshoot and make sure everything was set up and working exactly as it should.
Overall, I couldn’t be more satisfied. If you’re looking for someone who knows what they’re doing and takes real pride in their work, I’d highly recommend Asset Plumbing & Heating Ltd

"The pricing was very reasonable, especially considering the extra effort he made to get everything sorted quickly."

I couldn't be more pleased with the service provided by Thomas. From start to finish, Thomas was incredibly responsive and accommodating – even going out of his way to source and collect the required parts late in the evening, well outside of normal working hours.

His workmanship was top-notch, and he clearly takes great pride in doing things properly. The pricing was very reasonable, especially considering the extra effort he made to get everything sorted quickly.

Booking the job with Asset Plumbing & Heating (Tom) was smooth, his communication was excellent, and he's genuinely a lovely person to deal with – polite, respectful, and highly professional. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing a skilled and trustworthy plumber. Thanks again, Tom!

Tom was interviewed by the BBC in regards to the new planning rules for heat pumps being relaxed. This is good news for homeowners as it means you can now install a heat pumps in most cases without the need for planning permission!

We were also featured on BBC online , where we were interviewed about upskilling from a gas engineer to a heat pup installer and what improvements the government could make in order to train more installer in order to a hieve net zero!

In 2023 we were on Channel 4’s “Worst house on the street”. In the show we installed a new heating system for homeowners Jamie and Adam in Norbury.

The system is high efficiency thanks to a low temperature design and weather compensation controls!

Recently Tom was interviewed on the Installd podcast where he gave his thoughts on the heating industry and how other installers can make the jump to installing heat pumps!

say goodbye to

expensive bills

Heat pumps don’t waste energy creating heat — they move it, delivering up to 4× more heat for every unit of electricity used.

That efficiency only works when the system is designed specifically for your home. A professional heat loss survey ensures your heat pump is correctly sized, your radiators are matched, and your home runs at the lowest possible cost.

Book your ZeroDisrupt heat loss survey today to find out if a heat pump is right for your home and get a clear, no-guesswork plan for comfort, efficiency, and long-term savings.

Heating that thinks

ahead of the weather

Weather compensation is one of the biggest reasons heat pumps feel so different to boilers.

A boiler blasts out high heat in short bursts, leaving rooms too hot one moment and cooling down the next. A heat pump with weather compensation works with the weather, gently adjusting its output as the temperature outside changes. The result is steady, even warmth throughout your home, quieter operation, and lower energy bills — without the constant on-off cycling you’re used to.

Your questions

Answered by experts

What is a Heat pump and how does it work?

A heat pump is essentially a fridge in reverse, unlike a gas boiler that burns fossil fuels to create energy, a heat pump simply moves energy from outside and transfers it to the water that flows through your radiators. This process is highly efficient and can often generate 3.5 to 4.5x units of heat per KW of electricity bought, compared to a gas boiler which is most commonly using at best 90% of the KW of Gas bought!

Fun fact: Heat pump technology actually pre dates the gas boiler!

How much do heat pumps cost and is there a grant available?

Currently there is a government grant available for the replacement of boilers with heat pumps of £7500. Our average installation price including the heat pump, all associated materials and the government grant is £2500-5000. The price can how ever vary depending on how much work you require, If you require more extensive work like underfloor heating or a hot water tank moving elsewhere in the property then this can increase the price.

Will it save me money on my energy bills?

Quite simply, YES!. Thanks to Heat Geeks software we will be able to give you an idea of energy savings and expected costs of your new heat pump system before you commit to any purchase. Our jobs also come with a performance backed guarantee so if there are higher than expected running costs we will come and put it right at our expense. Tha's how confident we are that we know what we are doing!

Which type of heat pump should I choose?

We only really recommend air source heat pumps to our customers currently as ground source heat pumps are more suitable for rural properties with land available to them. Modern heat pumps are more than suitable for almost all London and Surrey based homes.

Are heat pumps noisy?

Modern heat pumps like the high quality German engineered Vaillant Arotherm Plus are extremely quiet, even going flat out you can just about hear it even if you are standing next it. That said any concerns that you have about noise will be put at ease as we carry out a full sound assessment whilst on site to ensure it meets current regulations.

Do I need to change my radiators or install underfloor heating?

Like with all things it depends, you definitely don't have to have underfloor heating but some radiators may require upsizing to suit a heat pump. That said thanks to the Heat Geek's cutting edge AI ZeroDisrupt software, we are able to ensure this is kept to a minimum and we have seen several proposals that have required no upgrades to radiators or the hot water tank!

What's involved in the installation and how long does it take?

To install your new green heating machine we will site the outside unit in it's proposed location, either on an existing base, make a new one or wall mounted, 2 pipes are then run externally to you hot water tank location, we then flush your system and install the new electrics in the cylinder location. If you need a new cylinder then we will drain and remove the old one and site your new one back in it's place this generally take half a day.

If it's a simple install that need no radiator upgrades, hot water cylinder or concrete base then it can be done in as little as 2-3 days, our average installation time is 5 days but you won't be without hot water for very long and we can supply alternative heating whilst the job takes place if needed.

How do I know an installer is reputable?

We are proud to be Heat Geek installers and be part of an organisation that holds itself into very high standards and high education for it's installers.

Thanks to Heat Geek you have the peace of mind to know we know our stuff, Heat Geek has the best training platform in the country to train existing boiler installers how to install heat pumps, not only that but all Heat Geek installers are verified by the top installers in the country to makes sure both their work is to a high standard and that they know how to design high efficiency heating systems!

Do heat pumps work in cold weather?

Heat pumps work all the way down to -25 degrees, so the mild UK weather we experience here in the South is nothing for them! All of are installations are monitored and keep the system a comfortable 20-21 degrees even in the winter months when it's -3!

what maintenance is required?

Just like a gas boiler heat pumps require a service once a year, the price for this is £240 inc vat.

Do I need planning permission?

In short no, planning rules have recently been relaxed and now 99.9% of heat pumps can be installed without the need for planning permission. (Our director Tom was actually featured in BBC news article on this very topic! Check it out here)
